Example Pricing:

Our charges are based on time taken. Costs vary, because computers, problems, and our customers vary! We will always give a realistic estimate and because we’ll be at your home or office, you needn’t worry about spiralling costs because we explain what we’re doing as we go along. If we think a particular job is "in for the long haul", we’ll tell you as soon as we make an assessment. You’re in control of the costs! We aim to be fair with charging at all times. Just because a job goes 10 minutes over an hour doesn’t mean we charge any more.

Home rates

These are rates charged to customers when we visit their home, to attend a computer used for home or family use.

Work undertaken at your home is charged by time taken. For home visits, our special rates are £25.00 for the first half hour, then £50.75 per hour (Prices include VAT), and we charge by the half-hour. Minimum charge £25.00 (covers the first half hour).

Our rates are the same for evening or weekend callouts if by appointment. We do not make scheduled appointments to start after 8pm. Unscheduled (i.e. emergency appointments) are charged at 1.5 times normal rate with a callout charge of £50.00 + VAT.

Remote support work including telephone support lasting more than ten minutes, is charged (at our discretion and by agreement) at £45.00 + VAT (£52.88) per hour, chargeable by the half-hour.

Business rates

Office or business visits are charged at £60 per hour (Excl. VAT). For scheduled (i.e. booked) callouts, there is a minimum charge of £30 + VAT (covering the first half hour), and £60 + VAT for emergency unscheduled callouts if such a callout is attended within three hours. There is no callout fee and no charge for travel time within our coverage area.

Out-of-hours rates:

* Work booked or scheduled to start after 1800 - 1.5 times normal rate i.e. £75 per hour
* Work booked or scheduled to start after 2000 or at weekends - £60 callout fee will be incurred.

Here are some example costs. Note that as jobs are charged by time, costs can vary. This information is intended as a guide.

Wireless networks set up in the home, for the purposes of sharing a broadband connection, start at £135 including all equipment and configuration (2 computers, 1 connected directly to a router, the other wirelessly)****

Workshop rates

If we are unable to fix the PC in a reasonable time at your home, we will optionally take the machine away for a workshop repair, usually returned within 72 hours. Costs for certain types of work are fixed as follows:

Reinstall of Windows XP, including all updates** £94.00 Inc VAT

Reinstall of Windows XP including having all your files saved when reinstalling Windows***
£141 Inc VAT

For jobs necessitating a workshop repair, costs are either fixed by agreement or as above, or are charged at a reduced workshop rate of £45.00 per hour Inc. VAT for homes and £45.00 Excl. VAT for Businesses. We will try to give either a fixed cost or an estimate wherever possible.

Laptop repairs

If your laptop is damaged we will try and give a realistic estimate, but as parts availability can be a major factor we may not be able to economically repair all laptops, in which case no charge is made, except for the initial callout. All laptop repairs are undertaken in the workshop.

Example charges for laptop repair are as follows (excluding initial minimum charge for callout of £22.50):

Fitting of new hard drive, without reinstallation of windows (plus hard drive costs) £20-£40

* Unless outside of coverage area or outside normal working hours. Please ask for details

** Dependent on having the original Windows CD and all drivers, restore discs etc. that came with your machine. If you do not have the original disks, the charge may be higher. NOTE: if you do not have a valid serial number for your Windows, you will need to add the cost of a Windows licence as we only deal with fully licensed software. Note that there may be a surcharge for Windows 98 or Windows ME as these systems are out of date and require extra work to bring up to date.

*** Any special requirements such as files in additional folders, or more than 20Gb of data will be charged at a higher rate dependent on time taken. If there is no requirement for email to be saved, price will decrease.

**** Wireless network installation at £135 does not include setting up of shared files/folders/printers and these charges will apply for the setup of 2 computers only, and will increase in cost if either of the computers are not functioning properly. Subject to equipment availability. Prices can vary.
